Qualification : CSIR UGC NET Recruitment 2023
Candidates must possess an M.Sc. or an equivalent degree, Integrated BS-MS, BS-4 years, BE, B. Tech, B. Pharma, or MBBS with a minimum of 55% (without rounding off) marks for General (UR)/General-EWS, and 50% (without rounding off) for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender, and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.
Students currently pursuing M.Sc. or those who have successfully completed a 10+2+3 year qualifying examination by the closing date of the online Application Form submission are eligible to apply for the aforementioned subject. This applies specifically to the Result Awaited (RA) category. However, it is a prerequisite that they fulfill the conditions of obtaining the qualifying degree with the required percentage of marks within two years from the date when the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Test results are declared. Failure to meet this condition will result in their disqualification.
Applicants falling under this category must furnish an attestation form, which should be duly certified by the Head of the Department or Institute where the candidate is currently enrolled or has previously attended (refer to Annexure VIII for details).
B.Sc. (Hons.) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MSPhD program with at least 55%^ (without rounding off) marks for General
(UR)/General-EWS; 50%^ (without rounding off) marks for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third In addition to gender inclusivity, candidates with disabilities (PwD) are also welcome to apply.
Individuals holding a Bachelor’s degree become eligible for the CSIR fellowship upon registration/enrollment in a Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. program within a two-year validity period. Those with solely a Bachelor’s degree can apply for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) but are not eligible for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor positions (without rounding off).
Candidates awaiting final year results for B.E., B.S., B.Tech., B.Pharma, and MBBS are eligible to apply for the fellowship but will not qualify for Lectureship or Assistant Professor roles. However, B.Sc. (Hons.) final year candidates or those awaiting results are not eligible to apply.
The criteria specified for academic degrees, whether at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level, as outlined in UGC Gazette Notification No. F. 5-1/2013 (CPP-II) dated 5th July 2014, and subsequently modified, will be applicable. The eligibility of NET qualified candidates for the roles of Lectureship/Assistant Professor is contingent upon meeting the criteria established by the UGC. Ph.D. degree holders, who obtained their Master’s degree before 19th September 1991, with a minimum of 50% marks, are eligible to apply for the position of Lectureship/Assistant Professor (without rounding off).
Candidates identified under the Third gender category are entitled to the same relaxations in terms of fee, age, and eligibility criteria for NET (i.e., JRF and Assistant Professor) as those available to SC/ST categories. The qualifying cut-offs for this category, specific to each subject, will be the lowest among those set for SC/ST/PwD/OBC–NCL/General-EWS categories in the respective subject.

The selection process for the CSIR UGC NET Recruitment 2023 will consist of the following stages:

CSIR UGC NET Recruitment 2023 : Salary
CSIR UGC NET Recruitment 2023 The monthly stipend for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) selected through the CSIR-National Eligibility Test (NET) will be Rs. 37,000 for the initial two years. Additionally, an annual contingent grant of Rs. 20,000 is directly reimbursed to the fellow. The Fellowship terms and conditions will be governed by CSIR, UGC, or the applicable Research Scheme.
Upon completing two years as a JRF and if the Fellow is enrolled for a Ph.D., the Fellowship will be upgraded to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) (NET). The stipend will be increased to Rs. 42,000 per month for the 3rd and subsequent years. This increase is contingent upon the assessment of the Fellow’s research progress and achievements. The assessment is conducted through an interview by an Expert Committee comprising the Guide, Head of the Department, and an External Member from outside the University/Institution. The External Member, ideally the chairman, should be an expert in the relevant field, holding a rank not below that of Professor/Associate Professor.
In cases where the Guide is also the Head of the Department, the Dean, Faculty of Science, or another senior member of the Department may serve as the third member of the Committee. If the Committee does not recommend up-gradation or the fellow has not enrolled for Ph.D., the candidate will continue as JRF with a stipend of Rs. 37,000 per month for the 3rd year. The fellowship may be terminated based on the Committee’s recommendation, and CSIR’s decision in this matter will be final.
The research progress of the JRF will be re-evaluated by a duly constituted three-member assessment committee at the end of the 3rd year for potential up-gradation.
